Captain Manny V Safely Shows You The Epic Side Of Baja

Of course loads of Americans cross the border into Mexico all year long to enjoy all of the amazing things our neighboring country has to offer: the gracious Mexican people, the stunning natural beauty, the surf breaks, the food!! It's truly a wonderland. But I'm here to tell you that experiencing the adventure with Manny as your guide takes it to the next level! A van full of surf ladies, escorted by our amiable host, set off on Friday afternoon for our Epic journey. We were late getting into Puerto Nuevo for our lobster dinner, but our night was saved by a quick phone call to the owner of Manny's favorite lobster spot. The restaurant had closed, but opened up for us. An incredible lobster feast was served, we ate until we almost burst, and were beyond thankful to the hosts and Manny both. This was our first glimpse into the magic of having him with us. His relationships with the locals, built on respect and gratitude, is the special sauce. We experienced it at every turn. What a way to spend a weekend! This was my second BajaWeekender surf trip with Manny - and somehow it topped the first time. This weekend was truly a get away for me - leaving it all behind and signing up for the trip solo - Manny provided exactly what I needed! No need to worry about anything - he provides a great agenda that caters to the entire groups' desires all while keeping a smile on everyone's face. He knows where to find the best tacos, the best lobster, the best breakfast burritos...but the best part is the secret surf spot he took us to - just a few friendly locals and SoCal friends alike enjoy the empty lineup! Thank you Manny - I've made some great friends on each of my trips and memories that will last forever! Gracias amigo!

What an amazing weekend getaway with my amazing mom friends...from lobster to surf to tacos to wine tasting (Xaroma was the best!) to more surf, the weekend was a perfect treat! Manny catered to the group's surf abilities and found the right waves for our crew. The food was always amazing, he knows the local sweet spots for food and everywhere we went they seemed to know him and were genuinely happy to see Manny. The weekend was relaxing with no decisions to make and a fun time every place we went...I would have loved an extra day or two just to fit more in! Manny was a terrific guide for our group: knowledgeable, capable, and kind. We were sitting at a restaurant by the sea and the breeze was a bit chilly. Manny quietly left the restaurant to go purchase several colorful Mexican blankets at a nearby market, which he gave to the ladies in our group to keep warm. Who does that? Manny. Also, he's just a cool guy to hang out with--he fit right in.

This was my second trip to Baja with Manny and I had an amazing time! Epic Surf Tours is now, officially, above and beyond. I mean...not that the first trip wasn’t a blast (because it was), but with the new digs, new car, and new adventures, it’s now freakin EPIC! I love that it’s truly a surf trip and Manny makes sure that surf is the top priority. I was fed beyond well, surfed my brains out, and I never felt unsafe. Plus, you get like a Bazillion photos of yourself at the end. I can’t wait to go again!

Our first time down Baja Norte with Epic Surf Tours and it'll be the first of many. Manny is the consummate host, tour guide, surf guru, you name it. Every detail is perefectly thought out and all you have to do is surf with your friends, relax, eat and enjoy getting away. The surf house is ideal. The food is amazing. I can speak for all of us Perros Jovenes when I say we can't wait to go back.

Good gosh...could we have had a better time? Everything was planned and executed to a "T". Manny took care of everything... from getting us safely down to Mexico with the least effort on our part, keeping us well fed, taking us to the best surf spots, filming, droning and photographing our every wave, providing sightseeing and shopping excursions, and just being an overall excellent tour guide. He is so knowledgeable about the area. I hadn't been to Mexico in years and am now ready to go back tomorrow! Manny is the consummate professional. I wish I had more words to describe and convey what a great time I, as well as the rest of the crew, had. Will definitely book another trip as soon as I can! Thanks again Manny!! You're the best!!

My group did the Baja Weekender and we all had a blast! Waves were great and uncrowded. Manny is a great surfer/photographer and had really helpful tips which I really appreciated. The food on the trip was awesome! And we got to see a lot of cool local spots. Manny knows the people and the area really well, so it all was really safe and easy. Stoked. We will definitely be doing another trip with Epic Surf Tours.

The Nose Ride Blueprint Baja Retreat

The Surf Société x Epic Surf Tours longboard immersion with Erin “Worm” Meza-Ashley

This is more than a surf trip.

The Nose Ride Blueprint Baja Retreat is a four-day, three-night Northern Baja longboard experience designed to help you take what you are learning in our online community and apply it in real waves, with real footage, real-time feedback, and a group of women working toward the same goal.

The retreat takes place during Surf Société’s 2026 Nose Ride Blueprint Challenge, a 12-week online program running August 19 through November 4. Inside the challenge, we’ll work through the foundations of noseriding: setup, timing, cross-stepping, wave reading, mindset, workshops, mentorship, and video feedback.

Then we take that work to Baja! To surf and learn in person.

Epic Surf Tours and Manny Vargas handle the Baja side: transportation from Imperial Beach, accommodations, meals, local wave hunting for longboarding and noseride practice, logistics, and footage.

Surf Société and Erin bring the longboard progression layer: focused mentorship, video review, shared session goals, and the support of a small sisterhood learning together.

What We’ll Work On

The ocean will shape our schedule, but each day will have a shared focus:

Thursday: Intention + Mental Game Get clear on where you are starting from, what feels strong, where you hesitate, and how you want to approach the weekend.

Friday: Movement, Cross-Stepping + Style Map out your cross-step on your own board, understand how you use its space, and explore movement that feels functional, confident, and true to your surfing.

Saturday: Finding the Edge Test the timing. Try things before they feel perfect. Learn from the waves that do not work. One of the best ways to learn how to noseride is to learn when not to noseride.

Sunday: Integration Enjoy one last surf, reflect on what shifted, and get clear on what you want to keep working on once you are home.

Meet Your Mentor: Erin “Worm” Meza-Ashley

Worm is a longtime longboarder, contest judge, and Surf Société mentor known for her thoughtful, expressive approach to surfing. She started surfing as an adult in college and developed her own style by paying close attention to the relationship between body, board, wave, and timing.

Throughout the trip, Worm will lead short mentor discussions, help guide an on-land movement workshop, and join our video reviews to help each surfer better understand what they are seeing and feeling in the water.
