SERVICES

WHAT IS YOGA?

Rooted in India, yoga is a spiritual practice that combines movement, breathwork and concentration. Not only may yoga benefit one’s mental health, it also improves flexibility, balance and strength, especially when practiced routinely. There are a variety of styles available to yogis.

Twice daily yoga classes are held at your retreat and may include Vinyasa Flow, Restorative Yoga, Reiki infused Yin Yoga, and sound healing. Vinyasa Flow uses breath focused movements with frequent pose transitions. Restorative Yoga is a more passive style that aims to release mind-body tension and stress by holding supported poses at a slower pace, while stretching muscular tissues. Yin Yoga’s focus is to stretch the body’s deep connective tissues (bones, ligaments, tendons, joints and fascia) using passive poses held for extended time using yoga props. When infused with Reiki, the body and mind are assisted in relaxation, healing and recovery. Your retreat's yoga classes will be mostly restorative focused and relaxing in nature.

Melanie is a 200-RYT and received her training in Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga. Melanie also holds Yin Yoga Teacher certification and is trained in sound healing.

WHAT IS SURF THERAPY?

Surf therapy is a healing modality that combines surfing with individual and group activities to enhance connection with self and the ocean. Surfing and proximity to the ocean have been shown to improve mental and physical well-being.

At Luna y Sol retreat, you will gain ocean knowledge and build your confidence and skills in the water. In a safe, supportive and positive environment with like minded people, we offer trauma informed surf therapy, integrating Groundswell Community Project curriculum, and independent surfing for all levels.

Your surf coaches will evaluate individual and group needs and adjust surf therapy accordingly throughout your retreat. Manny V. will also be available for individual surf coaching and instruction by appointment.

WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that facilitates the natural healing ability of the body. It is a holistic modality that supports balancing and healing of our physical, mental, emotional, energy and spiritual bodies. Reiki is beneficial for stress reduction, relaxation, mental clarity and promotion of healing.

Your retreat includes Reiki infused group yoga sessions and sound therapy by your certified Reiki practitioner, Melanie. She also offers private Reiki and chakra cleansing/balancing appointments during retreats.

With a background and education in psychology and medicine, I currently practice as a nurse, Reiki practitioner, yoga instructor, surf therapy coach and retreat facilitator.

As co-founder of Luna y Sol, I aim to create a holistic healing experience for our guests through movement, connection and the ocean. In this moment, my passions are surfing, traveling and helping others on their healing journeys. My purpose is to assist in healing our planet’s energy through love and light.

Hopefully you will join us at retreat!

Hi, my name is Manny Vargas. With four decades in and around the oceans of the world, I'm excited to share with you all the knowledge I've gained along the way. As a former professional bodyboarder and California State Lifeguard, I learned discipline and respect for others and the sea. In 2003, I began facilitating surf tours and picked up surf photography.

Safely and respectfully sharing the ocean experience has been a blessing. I would be honored to have you at a Luna y Sol retreat.
